Fundraising

The Padres fundraising committee raises funds for school-wide initiatives and projects with the aim of benefiting the entire school community.

At the end of the 2017-18 school year, the fundraising committee surveyed families for input on goals for the following school year. From the results of that survey, as well as input from school leaders, Padres’ #1 goal for the 2018-19 school year is completing the outdoor play space at the P Street campus!

The following year, we’ll move on to other projects that we as a community identify at the end of this school year.

Key fundraising events for 2018-19

The campaign will be an appeal to families for donations for funds to complete the outdoor play space. The fundraising committee will reach out to families by email, in person, and through social media to spread awareness about the campaign. The fundraising committee will also create cards that children can send to family members or friends asking for donations for the fall campaign.

Mundo Verde Fiesta (previously known as the Gala): June 1, 2019

The Fiesta is a fundraiser and an adult evening out and community party. It is a ticketed event (tickets have in the past cost between $60 and $100, with discounted and free tickets available for anyone who needs them) and includes food, drinks, and great music and friends. The Fiesta will include an auction of fun items that may range from special dinners with friends, to restaurant gift certificates, to sporting events, to vacation homes.

Smaller events and business programs

The fundraising committee will also send emails about local happy hours and group activities where generous businesses have agreed to donate a portion of the proceeds from an event to Mundo Verde.

Many businesses will also make contributions to Mundo Verde when Mundo Verde is identified by the shopper — see a list of participating businesses.

DC United fundraiser: October 13

Our DC United fundraiser was a great success! We raised over $2300 towards the 5th grade class trip.


Get involved!

The fundraising committee will meet about once a month, except during very busy times. We will need lots of help with the fall campaign and the Fiesta. For the Fiesta, we need help getting items for the auction; items in the past have included restaurant gift certificates, theater and sports tickets, hosted dinners, vacation homes, and all sorts of creative experiences. We also would love help with venue ideas for the Fiesta.
