The Padres fundraising committee raises funds for school-wide initiatives and projects with the aim of benefiting the entire school community.
For the 2019-2020 school year families voted in a survey for their top choices of fundraising projects through Padres. From the results of this survey Padres will focus on building out and buying books for the school library and adding a turf field on the west side of the building for this school year.
KEY FUNDRAISING EVENTS FOR 2019–20
Mundo Verde Fiesta: April 4, 2020
Save the date! The Fiesta is a fundraiser, an adult evening out, and community party. It is a ticketed event (tickets have in the past cost between $60 and $100, with discounted and free tickets available for anyone who needs them) and includes food, drinks, and great music and friends. The Fiesta will feature an auction of fun items such as special dinners with friends, restaurant gift certificates, sporting events, vacation homes, and much more!
Playspace and fall campaign — fully funded!
The fallen tree has been delivered and the Double Boo will be installed on site in early 2020. Thank you for helping create all of these great play spaces!
DC United game: Saturday, October 6
Traditionally, Mundo Verde has come together every fall to attend a DC United game. It’s a fun event for all!
In the past, it has also been a fundraiser. This year, due to pricing by the team, tickets will cost $35, so we will not build a donation into the ticket price. We have 250 tickets available in a section for Mundo Verde. Tickets will be available for purchase soon.
Smaller events and business programs
The fundraising committee will also send emails about local happy hours and group activities where generous businesses have agreed to donate a portion of the proceeds from an event to Mundo Verde.
Many businesses will also make contributions to Mundo Verde when Mundo Verde is identified by the shopper — see a list of participating businesses.
The fundraising committee will meet about once a month, except during very busy times. We will need lots of help with the fall campaign and the Fiesta.
For the Fiesta, we need help getting items for the auction; items in the past have included restaurant gift certificates, theater and sports tickets, hosted dinners, vacation homes, and all sorts of creative experiences. We also would love help with venue ideas for the Fiesta.
